An elementary school social worker, Smithfield’s Kerri Lanzieri, (pictured at right), has pulled from her experience to write and publish her first children’s book titled “Rhody Ram’s Rhode Island Adventure.”
Published this year by Mascot Books and illustrated by Rachel Schwarting, the book chronicles the adventures of the University of Rhode Island mascot Rhody the Ram, as he visits popular locations around the Ocean State.
The book is currently available at Amazon.com and the URI bookstore, and will be sold at Barnes and Noble in the future, she said.
On Saturday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Lanzieri will hold a book signing at the Greenville Public Library.
After her daughter’s pet rabbit died last year, Lanzieri said that she didn’t have a “good book” to help with the grief, so she and her daughter sat down and wrote one together.
That sparked a new desire to write and led to the creation of “Rhody Ram’s Rhode Island Adventure.”
Lanzieri lives in Smithfield with her husband and two daughters. She is a social worker at Old County Elementary School and William Winsor Elementary School.
A graduate of East Greenwich High School, she has a bachelor’s degree from URI and a master’s degree from Simmons College in Boston. Source: Valley Breeze
