Scoundrels: Defining Corruption Through Tales of Political Intrigue in Rhode Island

Posted by Wayne G. Barber

I am now reading this book for Tuesday's broadcast and I cannot put it down.
It has been said that political corruption is as old as government itself. Yet despite its timeless nature and its devastating impact on society, “political corruption” remains an elusive term that is difficult to define. In order to fully grasp its impact on government and society as a whole, it is critical to first have at least a cursory understanding of what corruption is and how it is measured. Using several infamous instances of corruption in Rhode Island politics as its framework (considered by many to be one of our nation’s most corrupt states), Scoundrels: Defining Corruption Through Tales of Political Intrigue in Rhode Island attempts to define what has not always been easily recognized and for years, has eluded traditional definition. This book examines and categorizes various forms of corruption – including both active and passive practices – that have negative and deteriorating affects not only on the individuals who fall victim to the corrupt acts, but on society as a whole. Scoundrels is an unsettling chronicle of corruption in our times. And the authors warn that until all citizens unite in their opposition to, and the exposing of, all government corruption, nothing in our society will change, and our government of the people, by the people and for the people will continue to hurt the people it was intended to help.

Book Signings, Book Releases, Top 10'S, Publishing Questions and Author Interviews too !

E-mail from now thru the broadcast at waynewnri@yahoo.com

I love story telling and have been writing most of my life. The three books of The Elementia Chronicles are my first published books. I have several other action-adventure books in the works and am anxious to share them!

I am also an avid gamer. It was my love of the Minecraft game and the platform that it pro
vides for endless creativity that inspired me to create the tale that I tell in the Elementia Chronicles. The story stays true to the game while being packed with action and adventure. I was inspired by some of my favorite books, such as "Harry Potter" and "The Hunger Games", as well as my favorite animated TV series "Avatar The Last Airbender" and it's sequel "The Legend of Korra."

In addition to playing games, I love to create them. I taught myself to program in the Scratch online programming environment when I was 13. The link to my Diamond Axe Studios page has some of my games including fan games of Fruit Ninja and Super Mario Elements, and original games such as From the Ground Up and Ninth Force. They are free and play right in your browser!

When I'm not going to school, writing, and/or programming, I have various other interests. I am an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America where I enjoy camping and High Adventure trips; I am an accomplished martial artist and musician; and like spending time with my family.

I love talking to people about my books and interests, so feel free to reach out to me www.sfaywolfe.com

Book Launch | Donna Russo Morin

Posted by Wayne G. Barber

Join us as we welcome local author, Donna Russo Morin for a book launch event for her latest historical fiction novel, Portrait of a Conspiracy, book one in DaVinci's Diciples series.

About the author:
Traveling through adolescence on the wings of the ‘60s gave Donna a lot of grist for her writing mill. Feminism, civil rights, the Vietnam War were all a disturbing yet highly motivating muse. Donna found her voice in fiction and with the appearance of a new horror writer on the book scene, a little known author named Stephen King, she turned her pen to the gruesome and the grotesque.

After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, Donna worked in marketing and advertising for large corporations and small non-profit arts organizations. When she had her children, she knew with a certainty that she needed to show them, by example, that if you believe in yourself, anything is possible.

In addition to writing and teaching writing, Donna has worked as a model and actor since the age of seventeen, when she did her first television commercial for Sears. Since then she has appeared in more than thirty television spots and print ads, everything from changing the oil in her car (that was acting) to modeling fur coats. She also appeared in three episodes of Showtime’s THE BROTHERHOOD, as well as in Martin Scorsese’s THE DEPARTED.

Donna lives peacefully, close to the beautiful shoreline of Rhode Island that she loves so much, with her two sons, Devon and Dylan, her greatest works in progress.
